Two Men Rob Ted Jacobs Store At Midway Mall

Two well dressed men in their late twenties robbed the Ted Jacobs Store at Midway Mall during daylight and escaped with 1770 dollars. Edward L. Wexler, a Ted Jacobs VP, witnessed the incident and led police to the safe while the pair fled in a dark car after forcing entry at the back door.

Fireworks disaster kills woman during Sandusky sesquicentennial display

A misfired simulated atomic blast at Sandusky High School during the sesquicentennial celebration injured several and killed Ruth Ann Hamer, 29, in the 12th row. Another woman, Sara Jane Seitz, 42, was seriously hurt, with Cheryl Dearth, 51, lightly injured. Police said no charges likely. display captain Charles Tonge faced no action. A prior misfire shattered a home window and injured Candice Hulin, 17, while another misfire damaged a car nearby with no injuries reported.

American casualty figures rise in Vietnam conflict reports

UPI reports American combat deaths near 25,000 with total toll at 25,068 and 154,297 wounded. Communist deaths decline to 363,935 while North Vietnamese and Viet Cong losses drop. South Vietnamese casualties reach 286 killed and 1,189 wounded amid DMZ tensions and nighttime helicopter sightings.

In Washington the Poor People’s Campaign drew more than 50 000 participants including Rev. One non-fatal stabbing incident occurred as a boy was stabbed while a photographer sought access.

Avon School District names Barnhart as next superintendent

Avon Local School District selects Robert Barnhart to succeed Thomas C. Simpson as superintendent effective September 1. Barnhart currently Avon High School principal and will become assistant superintendent first. Simpson resigns after informing officials months ago. Simpson’s pay rises to 16000 annual for August, Barnhart set at 15000 as he prepares to lead.
