Wellington rural mail routes consolidated despite protests
Despite citizen protests and letters from Congressman Charles Mosher and Senators Stephen Young and Frank Lausche, the Post Office Department will consolidate four Wellington rural mail routes into three effective July 7. Delivery times shift from between 12:00 and 12:45 p.m. to 1:45 and 2:00 p.m., with 1:45 to 2:00 p.m. deemed satisfactory. The plan saves about 2960 dollars, after subtracting route costs, and direct truck delivery will follow. Local residents and officials continue efforts to have the consolidation reconsidered.
