Elyria set an all time water consumption record as Lorain’s pumping station output reached 12,970,000 gallons, beating the previous 12.9 million gallon mark. Safety Service Director Joseph C. Cowden cited hot weather and washday tradition for the spike with yesterday’s high at 91 and today projected to reach 82.
Amherst city officials plan to seek a city council ordinance banning potentially dangerous reptiles in housing. Safety Service Director Carl Wenrick will push the measure after a half grown boa constrictor, kept by Gene Edwards at 18244 Park Ave, prompted concerns. An official said they were last seen in the dormitory at 8:20 p.m.
