McElroy to halt Reds sale seeks Cincinnati preserve
Ohio Attorney General Mark McElroy plans to file suit to set aside the sale of the Cincinnati Reds to William DeWitt and to obtain a court order keeping the NL franchise in Cincinnati. He argues the Crosley Foundation failed to secure a binding contract, while DeWitt says his letter promising five years in Cincinnati is unenforceable. Four preferred stockholders also sued to gain parity with common stockholders in the sale.

Ex golf champion George Sargent dies at 79
George Sargent, 79, former US Open golf champion and 1921 PGA president, died Monday in Atlanta. A native of Dorking, England, he won the 1909 Open and led the National Professional Golf Association from 1921 to 1926.

Five railroads cut jobs to offset wage hikes
