Two Injured in Diagonal Road Crash as Driver Walks Out
Sterling Ray Jr. 27 and Mary Blackstone 26 were injured when Ray’s 1947 convertible lost control on a gravel curve west of Route 301 on Diagonal road. Blackstone suffered a fractured hip and spine. Ray was treated for shock and a back wound, then walked out about three hours after admission. A reckless driving citation was issued against Ray.

Truck Damaged At City Dump In Elyria Fire Incident
A 1952 half ton truck owned by Spitzer Motors of Elyria was badly damaged and its driver burned when the vehicle caught fire at the city dump on Ford Road at 9 25 this morning. Willis Hardy received minor burns while attempting to move the burning truck as firemen contained the blaze after significant damage to the body and cab. In a separate Elyria Township call, firemen battled a blaze on M. E. Whitman property at 1085 Gulf Road where an oil fired weed burner and a 50 gallon tar drum were destroyed. the fire was extinguished on arrival.

Sweden refused Russia's accusation that a Swedish Catalina mercy plane violated Soviet airspace and fired on Russian fighters. Navy Recruiting Unit To Visit Elyria Friday Afternoon
