County Commissioners Favor One Head For Welfare Work
Lorain County officials Oscar Dunn Alan Branson and Thomas McGeachie urge consolidating Child Welfare Board duties with the Lorain County Welfare Department claiming a central office would improve accountability. They cite grand jury recommendations and budget overruns as reasons for change while noting current home operations are progressing but the welfare board’s child care budget is depleted early in the year.

Workers note uneven county coverage as Employment Service reports 150 daily Strawberry pickers were sent to farms, with Elyria drawing more requests than Lorain and delays in notifying helpers.
