Ohio to vote on at least 8 percent tax cut next April

Ohio lawmakers forecast a state income tax cut of at least 8 percent next April due to a growing surplus. The plan could reach 8.5 percent if the surplus hits $600 million, with potential for a 9 percent cut. A family of four earning 40,000 would save about 131 this year and 1995 levels show prior bills reduced taxes.

Parma GM plant lays off 462 workers in strike impact

462 workers at General Motors Parma Stamping Plant were laid off as United Auto Workers strikes against GM continued. Larry Tanner, sheltering at home, said meeting reports indicated the plant would be cleaned out by week’s end and many were excused from work.
