Tall 6-foot blonde wins Lorain County queen title

Irene Sidorowicz, 20, crowned Miss Lorain County 1971 and Miss Talent at Lorain County Community College after a night before nearly 1,000 people. She topped 21 contestants, with Sonya Lopez named Miss Congeniality, and runners up Pamela Claus Nadine Wisniewski and Cheryl Ann Gallagher. Sidorowicz, daughter of Mr and Mrs Zigmund Sidorowicz, also has prior title as Lorain International Festival Princess in 1969.

Youtht killed when car jack slips in Elyria driveway

A 19 year old Elyria youth John E Klemm was killed when a bumper jack slipped while he worked under his mother's car in the driveway. Cliff Altfeld, 19, tried mouth to mouth resuscitation until an ambulance arrived. Klemm had worked on cars and was a 1970 Elyria High School graduate. He was employed at U S Steel Lorain Cuyahoga Works.

Lorain Head Start shifts to child self development plan

The Lorain County Economic Opportunity Committee approves a reoriented Elyria Head Start program for next year with less emphasis on academics and no intelligence testing.
