Two Critically Injured In Accidents
Two people were critically injured and two others sustained minor injuries in weekend traffic crashes in Elyria and vicinity. Barbara Ensor, 5, was injured when struck by a car driven by Bernie Barnes near her home on Lodi street and was taken to Elyria Memorial Hospital. Mrs. Katherine Little, 30, suffered a fractured skull in a crash on Route 11 near Birmingham. her husband Bernard Little sustained minor injuries. Both were admitted to Elyria Memorial Hospital with Mrs. Little in critical condition. Tod Marge, 19, had minor injuries when his car hit a tree and knocked over a light post on Cleveland street. Additional minor damage reports and collisions are listed as deputies investigated.

Death of Elyria Police Chief Biggs Noted Leader in Industry
Ellsworth L. Biggs 64 longtime Elyria resident and chief of the National Tube Company police force for 26 years died at Elyria Memorial Hospital after two weeks of illness. Known as Chief Biggs, he commanded 45 officers and helped keep order at the plant employing up to 10,000 workers. A veteran of Johnson Steel roots, he started as a motorman on the traction line before joining the plant’s police force. He held fraternal posts and leaves wife Zelphia and four children.

Plan Speedy Trial For Kidnapers In Tacoma Case

Kidnapped Sheriff Found In Stolen Car Near Boonville
Boonville Indiana June 17 Sheriff Edward Luegers of Dubois County was found handcuffed in an abandoned stolen car near Boonville two hours after being kidnapped in Jasper. Two youths abducted him from in front of the jail after arresting them for car theft and abandoned the sheriff on State Road 61 eight miles north of Boonville.
