Wellington teachers still seek contract settlement
Wellington school district and its teachers union remain without a contract after negotiations since March. Karen Conley says progress on salaries exists but issues like supplemental schedules sabbatical leaves and district residency enrollment for children of teachers are unresolved. The board declared impasse and sought a federal mediator, offering a one year contract for 1998 1999 and a three year deal 1999 2002 which was rejected June 9. mediator may be recalled and an action by the union could follow.
