Modernistic Upgrade Adds Stone Facing and Wing to Building

Coping will be removed and replaced with white stucco. The structure will receive a stone facing and a small triangular wing added to the west end to carry out the modernistic style.

Renewal urged for two mill city levy

At a City Council meeting Mayor Henry W. Ault warned the two mill operating tax levy expires December 31 and urged renewal be placed on the November ballot. The issue was referred to the finance committee for study and recommendation along with several other items including hydrant rental with Black River Township and a street extension deed on Bell avenue.

Woman Injured in Oberlin Car Crash on Butefnut Ridge Road

Sophia White 32 of Oberlin suffered a knee contusion and internal injuries with shoulder pain after a two car crash on a one lane bridge on Butefnut Ridge road three miles east of Route 58. Clair W. Ely 36 of Oberlin was the other driver. Police could not determine fault as both cars were removed before investigation. Mrs White was cited for no operator's license.

The Elyna draft board plans 11 men to be inducted on July 8, per Catherine McKee clerk of Draft Board No. 72. A preinduction physical on July 21 will send ten men to Cleveland for examination.

An historic brick building at Broad street and East River, formerly Walton Ice Company, will be remodeled into a five unit medical office block. At least nine of the fifteen aboard survived a Monday night crash of a Costa Rican air liner near San Isidro, north of San Jose. No further details on the survivors or cause are provided.
