Governor Rhodes toured the devastation in Cardington where a tornado killed four people including a 9 month old infant and injured 60. Authorities sought 37 missing residents while officials warned the town must be leveled and rebuilt with federal aid amid months of recovery.
Heavy rains threaten corn and soybeans as Ohio farmers face a tight window for planting. Up to 1.23 inches in 24 hours worsens soil decay risks and delays drying. Flooding strikes LaGrange and Medina County with homes damaged and calls for federal aid amid a disaster response effort.

The 18th class of Lorain County Community College graduates were honored Sunday in the courtyard near the college center building. About 380 students attended the hour and a half ceremony. Board chair Mabel Ewing urged graduates to serve with honor and return often, praising the campus and faculty. A reception followed for graduates, parents, and friends.
In Cardington the tornado demolished the downtown area with one two block wide swath of destruction. Pat Wilhelm and her husband own a hardware store now a total loss with about one third of merchandise salvageable. No fatalities reported. the Wilhelm family is shaken but hopeful. Governor Rhodes visited as residents adjust to the aftermath and school officials quipped about education funding.
