Lorain to get 3.5 million in anti recession funds
Lorain County will receive 3.5 million dollars from a federal stimulus package signed by President Carter. Elyria will gain 228,564 dollars, Lorain 440,996 and the county 281,908, with Lorain highest per capita at 5.57. Installments start next month through September 1978 to offset revenue losses during high unemployment.

Elyria to honor pay hike accord this July
Elyria plans to pay a 20 cent hourly raise for most city workers starting July 4 after a negotiated contract with police fire clerical unions. Mayor Marguerite E. Bowman said the city will honor the accord despite higher costs, aided by $228,000 in federal anti-recession funds. Initial year 1976 boosted expenses by about $500,000. the new raise will be smaller due to reduced payroll and a five cent lower increase. Bowman said the city will have to SCRIMP to cover the obligation.

Footprints raise suspect in Okla Scout deaths
Three Girl Scouts were killed at Camp Scott near Locust Grove Oklahoma. Bloody footprints from large tennis shoes were found on the tent platform with a red flashlight nearby. Fingerprints were lifted from the flashlight and a girl’s skin. Investigators believe the killer is a man. autopsy says the girls were sexually molested.
