Wakeman Council President Bement Dies in Texas
Wakeman leader Clinton FE Bement, 62, president of the Wakeman Village Council and confectionery proprietor, died suddenly in Harlingen Texas after ten months of illness. He leaves a widow, daughter Marian I Bizts of Lorain, five sons Merlin E Cleveland Carl C Akron Charles W Robert and Clinton E rr of Wakeman and four grandchildren. Funeral arrangements are pending at W L Pease Funeral Home with services scheduled Wednesday at 2 00 PM conducted by Rev F E Eastman at the Wakeman Congregational church. Burial will follow in Wellington cemetery.

Elyria Woman Seriously Hurt in Lake Avenue Crash
Four persons were injured in a two car collision on Lake avenue at Bath street around 4:14 p.m. yesterday. The most serious injury was to Mrs. William F. Smith, 49, of 2338 Ninth street, with lacerations and a possible skull fracture. Other injured include Mr. Smith, who had lacerations, and Latton Zolnai, 26, and his wife, 24, of Lorain, who were treated for lacerations and minor injuries.

Five Die In Plane Crashes In California
PASADENA Calif June T4 Two airplanes crashed into residential sections Sunday killing the five occupants. One fell into a vacant Pasadena lot the other crashed onto a Glendale sidewalk narrowly missing a housewife. Pilot Frank Bannister 30 a former Marine liner and his two Pasaden a passengers Edward Patrick 23 and Fred Lohh 29 plunged 500 feet into a vacant lot when a wing tore off during a stunt over a fashionable Pasadena section. Bannister steered to avoid a house. From a tower at 290 feet another plane crashed at Glendale killing Jack BR Newert 25 transport pilot and Joseph Taylor 22 both of Los Angeles. The tail landed beside the Ben Small residence and metal struck Mrs Small in the front room. Witnesses said Taylor jumped clear as the plane skimmed the roof and was decapitated hitting the chimney.

County commissioners told La Change township officials that financial limits prevent the county from undertaking the Whitehead road improvement this year. They doubt they can fund the resurfacing and oiling program, estimated at about 44,000 dollars. Roller Coaster Fatality Claims Lorain Man
Lorain resident John Hrustic, 22, died after standing up on a roller coaster at Crystal Beach. He was pitched head first from the car as the ride neared a final dip. Hrustic, a steel plant worker, and friend Michael Franko, 22, were aboard with others when the tragedy occurred. The Erie County coroner described the scene as nearly unrecognizable.
