Relieve Trail Of Kidnap Leader Picked Up Again

BUTTE Montana June 14 Officers today believed they had again picked up the trail of William Mahan leader of the gang which kidnaped 94 year old George Weyhaeuser of Tacoma and held him for 200000. Chief of Police Jere Murphy raided 20 mountain cabins east of here and found evidence he may have been in hiding there with federal agents. Inside the cabin officers found empty food containers cigaret ashes and saw blades suggesting a plan for a hijacking delivery. The search extended to Livingston Montana after Mrs C B Jefferies reported a man resembling the fugitive appeared at her home asking for food. He had Mahan's eyes and chin and carried a small black bag believed to contain the ransom money.
