907 Refugees Will Not Be Returned To Germany
London June 13 U P All 907 German Jewish refugees aboard the liner St Louis were saved from being returned to Germany today by the Intergovernmental Committee of Refugees. Belgium granted temporary refuge to 250 while the Netherlands France and Britain took the rest. The United States Joint Distribution Committee offered to pay for their maintenance. Refused refuge in Cuba or elsewhere in the new world the refugees were being returned until the delay by the ship’s captain.

Plea Guilty Reports From Federal Court in Ohio
In Columbus on June 13 Dewitt Bach a 30 year old bank employee pleaded guilty to embezzling 737.71 by wrapping pennies in dime wrappers. Other defendants including Francis Sowers Homer B Blackston and Shirley McDonald pleaded guilty to various offenses and were scheduled for sentencing next Monday.

Bear Escapes Cascade Park Pen Sparks Busy Hour
A 225 pound black bear slipped from its Cascade Park pen triggering a busy hour for workers and spectators. Flier Sacrifices Life To Save Children On Playground
Rockford Illinois reports Ray Zuelke and Audrie King died when Zuelke’s plane crashed on the Rockford Country Club course after he attempted a safe landing near a group of children. Joe Vanderscheid of Columbia Hills Golf Course and B R Darby of Riverside Country Club were fined $100 and costs each after arraignment before Justice Herbert C. Cummings on charges of exhibiting slot machines. Deputies seized five machines at Riverside and six at Columbia Hills. the court ordered destruction of the machines and returned most of the money to defendants. Guard at Boys' Industrial School pleads guilty
Dono van M. Bryant 22 a guard teacher at the Boys' Industrial School near Lancaster pleaded guilty in Columbus police court to conspiring to help two boys escape. His bond was set at 2300 and the case to be sent to the Franklin County Grand Jury. Frankfort Michigan June 13 Ted Bellak 27 set a new world water flight record for a soaring plane crossing Lake Michigan from Sturgeon Bay Wisconsin to Frankfort. The 54 mile route took 36 minutes but a 30 mile wind drift extended the distance to over 90 miles. This marked the first motorless crossing of the lake. Bellak predicted glider flights across the United States within 10 years and potentially the Atlantic within three.
