Lorain Officer Suspended Three Days For Restraint Violation
Lorain Patrolman Gene Taliano received a three day suspension without pay from Safety Director Wanda Tully after a 45 minute hearing. The penalty relates to removing handcuffs from a prisoner, Vester Wilson, during May 26 arrest, leading to a scuffle and injuries. Wilson and another black man in separate May arrests suffered facial fractures. Police Chief John Malinovsky said Taliano was cleared of excessive force allegations, but erred in unhandcuffing Wilson in the booking room.
