Major Thomas J. Jones 35 of Wilkes Barre Pa now with United States Marine Corps was killed in a plane crash on June 6 near El Toro Marine Air Base Santa Ana California. He was returning from Wilkes Barre after his brother's funeral and had served roughly 16 years including Korea. Survived by wife Anne Marie Sullivan and three children Cynthia Anne 5 Glenn Jr 14 Lynn Marie. He taught as an instructor and safety officer at Unit 201 Corpus Christi Texas while attending UC classes.
Friends may call at Edward Fisher Funeral Home after noon Sunday. Services tentatively set for Tuesday morning at St Marys Church with Rev Cletus Gates officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery. Major Jones was a member.
A U S Air Force SB29 Superfortress crashed in dense fog on a Swabian Alps mountainside near Stuttgart, killing all 10 airmen aboard. Based at Molesworth in Britain, the aircraft was on a non stop instrument training sweep when the pilot misjudged climb. Bodies found 13 miles southeast of Stuttgart. Identification pending next of kin.
Auto Club executive Harry A. McHale dies suddenly en route home from a Cleveland stadium outing. Found slumped at the wheel near West Blvd and Lake Ave after a Yankees Indians game. A Navy veteran, McHale lived in Elyria since 1944 and leaves wife Grace and a daughter, with services set at St. Mary Church.
Rochester dispatch reports 44 year old actor Robert Wilcox husband of Diana Barrymore was found dead in his sleeper berth aboard a New York Central train arriving from New York. A porter could not awaken him at 7:40 a.m. and the Rochester coroner tentatively ruled the death likely a heart attack.

Mayor Keys said Havens & Emerson reported accelerated interior deterioration, cracks in the road, and shifts at the south end, prompting three excavations next week to assess water pockets and overall condition.
