Two Officers Killed and Two Injured in Plane Crash
In Walbridge Ohio a Lockheed Vega monoplane crashed on Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad property. Captain M. M. Rubner, piloting for Thomas F. White, was killed instantly. Captain C. F. Kuhsug died later. White and a second Guard captain, Rubens, were injured. The crash occurred near Toledo two miles from Walbridge airport.

Former Legion head sees bright future for organization
Paul V. McNutt former national commander and Indiana University law dean told a banquet at the Elyria American Legion Home that the Legion would be in its heyday for the next fifteen years. He noted current national membership at 976,000 and forecast the group surpassing one million this year with a peak around 1,500,000. He recalled the organization began with 845,000 members.

Budget cuts shrink Ohio education budgets in 1930s style cuts
In Columbus on June 11 the Senate Finance Committee slashed the State Department of Education budget reducing nine positions and $40,000 a year, trimming $30,000 from maintenance to $441,000 for the biennium. Abolished posts include supervisors and a secretary. Soldiers and Sailors Orphans Home at Xema won $760,000 for new buildings. Several colleges saw varied cuts in maintenance and additions while salaries were preserved. The Welfare Department’s revised plan slashed institutional projects, with numerous cottages, hospitals, and facilities abandoned or reduced as the committee refused salary increases.

Two Men Injured In Auto Crash At Lodi and West River
H L Comstock aged 32 of 244 Fifth street sustained injuries to his right leg and Ernest Redman age 39 of 35 Bon Air avenue suffered knee injuries when struck by a car at Lodi and West River street as they were about to repair a traffic light. The collision involved cars driven by Mary Halpin of 123 Glendale and Ray Rice of 245 Fifth street. a ladder they were using was struck. Both men were treated at Memorial hospital.

In Clairoville St Clairsville Ohio county commissioners approved 25090 dollars for extra sheriff deputies to guard the strike area as violence looms. 14 Overcome By Gas At Sandusky
In Sandusky Ohio four of the Barr Rubber Products Co employees were confined in hospitals after a sulphuric gas tank exploded. Ten others were revived at Good Samaritan Hospital. Forty five workers were in the plant when the blast caused a panic and several were dragged outside by rescuers.

Sentenced Two Years For Arson In Lorain Case
Natale Lembo of Lorain pled guilty to arson and was sentenced to two years in the penitentiary by Judge W. B. Thompson. Similar charges against his wife Vita were Naplied. The couple was indicted for burning a house in Lorain last April.
