Budget Under Discussion Recreation Board Airs Plans For Vacant Lots
Elyria's Recreation Board discussed the 1956 budget and the vacant lot playground plan at a council chambers meeting. Ernest Curcillo warned a larger budget will be needed to develop areas citywide, while Real Estate Board cooperation will provide grounds for play spaces with minimal city supervision. The first vacant lot playground at Park Ave and E Broad St opened after real estate committee led property owners to rent lots for $1 a year, to be maintained by the city with limited equipment.
