State Law On Funds
Columbus June 9 State officials faced a tight cash flow with only 11645 remaining for general operating expenses and a June 15 payroll of about 650000. Despite projected June revenue over 2300000 to come in, timely collection was uncertain. If short, earmarked funds such as highway money 16589 243 would be used to cover salaries. Finance director M Ray Allison said funds must be obtained by the department, while Auditor Joseph T Ferguson noted delays holding over more than 17000 in maintenance bills due to the shortage.
