The Elyria school system will start its annual summer session on Monday June 20 and run until Friday July 29 under Superintendent R C Maston. Grade school enrollment is expected around 17 to 20 with two teachers, high school about 100 students, and all sessions in Elyria High School.
Gov. Franklin D. Roosevelt said he would review the Hofstadter committee transcript and a shorter analysis of Mayor James J. Walker's testimony as charges. Seabury described the material as information for the committee to decide on action, stating the obvious step is to read it.
The House voted to disagee with Senate amendments to the Economy Bill and to send the controversial measure to conference in Washington on June 9.

Ninety four boys and 102 girls graduated in Elyria High School's seventy ninth commencement, the largest class in the school’s history. One more graduate was ill and absent, but still a graduate. Dr. Franklin B. Snyder spoke on four tangible rewards of high school life, including four years of good fun, lasting friendships, ability to think and act honestly, and faith in self and others. The ceremony featured the presentation of the class to the board by Principal C. P. Shively with Vivian Pedrason named first honor student.
Thirty three members, over one sixth of the class, make up the honor group of Elyria High School’s 196 senior class graduated last night. First honor goes to Vivian S. Pehrsson who led the commencement with straight A averages. Principal C. P. Shively announced the list of 32 other honor students with 90 or above averages over four years, naming Marie Coletta Baker, Kathleen Estelle Bayley, Alfred L. Booth, Ruth Rhea Bruce and many more.
About 4 800 students in Elyria public schools face the end of the school year with a day off for teachers to prepare final reports. Students return for the last day tomorrow, then resume on September 6. Teachers come back September 5 for a general meeting to plan the next year.
The Camp Iss See Kes Elyria M C A camp on the Vermilion River will add a life line across the river to separate shallow from deep water with six guards on duty. Other improvements include sanitation upgrades bunk repairs driveway repairs and equipment fixes as the summer season opens next Monday with 43 boys already registered for the first period and more reservations for periods two and three.
A marching club from Springfield, Ohio, won first place at the closing session of the state convention of the Fraternal Order of Eagles. Delphs finished second while Wapakoneta placed 61st in the large adult band category.
Kenneth Leonard Buttermore, a member of Elyria High School’s 1952 graduating class, fell ill with measles days before the commencement. He attended the ceremony but his absence and illness cast a pall over the event, as classmates sympathized with his predicament.

Berlin June 9. Baron Wilhelm von Gayl minister of the interior in the Von Papen cabinet made a personal declaration of loyalty to the Hohenzollerns in his maiden speech before the Federal council. He stated that he believes monarchy is the most suitable form of government for a nation in central Europe.
Democratic Leader Robinson urged swift senate action to authorize a $300 million emergency loan to states to fight hunger and unemployment. The measure, carved from the Wagner relief bill, would let the Reconstruction Finance Corporation lend funds based on state populations after governors certify need. House support appears likely, with Republicans backing the proposal.
In Washington on June 9, veterans of the Bonus Expeditionary Force refused to disperse, vowing to stay through the summer. Police attempted to move the camp from the Potomac, but the men remained organized and in good humor, awaiting congressional action on the $2 billion Patman Bonus Bill. Lorain county officials disclosed a total of about 4200 dollars in interest on notes that should have been paid by special improvement districts. Commissioners moved 900 dollars from contingency and 3200 dollars from road funds to cover defaulted notes and interest. Normally districts cover these costs, but bonds could not be issued and some districts had insufficient tax collections. The general county fund must cover deficits in principal or interest for such improvements per the law.
Washington June 7 Walter E Edge of New Jersey ambassador to France emerged as a leading possibility for chairman of the Republican National Committee. Republican leaders pressed his appointment and the name was understood to have been suggested to President Hoover for approval. The president was described as not actively selecting a successor to Simeon D Fess and open to the matter. Supporters reportedly raised Edge’s name during White House talks before the Chicago convention.
In Cleveland on June 9 a woman identified tentatively as Miss Mary Gaughan, 22, was recovered from the ruined Ellington apartment building. The search continued for three other tenants unaccounted for. Investigators weighed theories on the blast that wrecked the building Monday night with Safety Director Merrick suggesting nitroglycerin in the bank vault, while Fire Chief Granger and officials denied incendiary origin. First Assistant Nimmo cited ignition of an explosive substance as a possible cause.
In Washington on June 9 Rep. Rayburn said Senator Connally would nominate Garner at the Democratic National Convention. Both are Democrats from Texas and Garner is a leading presidential hopeful in the party.
Deputy County Auditor Arthur Giles announced that the Lorain County gasoline tax money was received from the state. The county will get 11990 dollars and each of the 20 townships will receive 400 dollars from this distribution.
Police in the city investigated the death of a ten month old girl whose parents, eight children in the family, faced severe poverty and no doctor. The child, ill for days, died of bronchial pneumonia after the mother sought aid only when neighbors intervened. Milk aid had come from Associated Charities. Authorities noted no prior report to city agencies.
