West Sister waters erupt as walleyes bite across Lake Erie

Fishermen aboard Afloat and Afield chase early-season walleyes west of West Sister Island as calm conditions spark upticks. The Happening II with Dave Bomba and crew limited out in two hours near 19 feet depth, using Tom's Walleye Lure in silver. Other boats reported similar action across reefs, with many anglers releasing smaller fish while keeping keepers. Perch tagging by biologist Edwin H. Ruffing aids movement studies as fisheries expect a strong walleye run through June.
