Wholesale prices rise less in May as food drop leads
May wholesale prices rose 0.4 percent the smallest jump in nine months, helped by a 1.3 percent drop in food prices. Beef and veal fell 6.9 percent while pork dropped 10.1 percent. Gasoline and heating oil climbed, keeping inflation pressures in the industrial sector despite lower food costs. Overall, finished wholesale goods were 10 percent higher than a year ago.

Columbia Gas to resume new service after seven year pause
After seven years on hold Columbia Gas of Ohio will begin taking new customers as the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio lifted a moratorium. The utility can add residential, commercial and industrial accounts up to 300000 cubic feet daily while it studies the PUCO order. Officials plan to contact backlogged applicants and accelerate new connections as demand grows with gas supplies being redirected from Pennsylvania and New York.
