Our Place North Ridgeville opens with familiar menu and staff
Ken and Lydia Hartzell convert their Westlake pizza venture into Our Place North Ridgeville at Center Ridge Road. After leasing loss, they moved in late April adapting much of the old interior. The new site draws Westlake regulars, plus 11 of 25 North Ridgeville employees, offering pizza, steak and chicken dishes.

Lorain Avon Marconi Communications has laid off workers with further cuts planned at Lorain Avon sites. A spokesman said depth of layoffs remains undetermined though as many as 200 local employees could be affected. Corporate actions stem from redundancies after acquiring RelTech in 1999.

Fisher-Price agreed to a 11 million penalty with the federal government in a settlement tied to charges it failed to report a dangerous product defect. The Consumer Product Safety Commission called the penalty the agency’s highest for a toy company, as Mattel’s Fisher-Price denies the charges and says it addresses issues when problems arise.
