New York Social Fabric Strained by Wealth and Distance
In a 1932 McNaught Syndicate column, New York reveals finance tightening domestic ties as husbands and wives drift apart amid spas and finishing schools. The piece reflects on literati rises and falls, theater relics near Times Square, and a wary forecast of new entertainment unfoldings.
