Traffic Accidents Reported In Ohio Near Elyria
A LaGrange woman, Helen Ratcil, 43, was thrown from a car on Rt. 37 near Elyria and admitted in fair condition to Elyria Memorial Hospital after a crash that left her husband Kenneth Ratcil, 52, with whiplash. The car struck a bridge abutment and the couple were among no charges. Five injured in a Turnpike two car crash near Vermilion Valley Plaza on the Ohio Turnpike. Drivers Ray Wedmore, 50, and Booker Hawkins, 48, listed with injuries. two other occupants, Angugtn Wedmore, 43, and Rosa Falling, 37, German nationals, in varying conditions. Hawkins cited for reckless driving. vehicles demolished.

Death ruled suicide in Elyria man’s gunshot
The death of Millard Hale 31 at 228 West Bridge Street was ruled a death by his own action. Coroner Dr. Paul J. Kopsch stated Hale placed a revolver in his mouth and fired it. Hale, born October 18 1912 in Plymouth, lived in Elyria since 1937 and worked as a superintendent at Kaspar Foundry. He left his wife Gwen in the kitchen before going to bed and was found dead in the bedroom. Survivors include his wife a daughter Karen Booth Elyria a sister Apart Bishman Norwalk and several relatives in Huron and Sandusky.

Five year old Edward Charles Orth II son of a former North Ridgeville teacher and coach died after darting into Fifth Avenue near his home while walking with his brother Kennard. He was en route from kindergarten when struck by a car driven by Mrs. Bomie Sindel. The Orth family of Columbus survive with two brothers and two sisters. The body lies at Egan Ryan Funeral Home in Columbus.
