Nicole LaMarr of Elyria filed a $1 million plus wrongful death lawsuit in Lorain County Common Pleas Court over her 13 month old daughter Kristen C LaMarr who died from brain swelling after head injuries while in foster care. Defendants include Richard and Susan Schultz the foster parents Ohio State Department of Human Services and Lorain County Children Services. Authorities say Kristen died June 6 1990 after a fall down a small flight of stairs.
Elyria parks chief David Woodruff and the Parks and Recreation Board weigh a proposal to add $1 to utility bills to fund recreation programs. The plan could raise about $50 000 and is not yet referred to City Council. Woodruff will assist groups reviewing state and federal funding options for a center aimed at reducing youth crime in the low income south side.
