Kennedy defeats Carter in California and New Jersey to claim 106 delegates in a pivotal primary, while Carter grips Ohio West Virginia and Montana and clocks enough delegates to threaten renomination. Stringer Wins Lorain County Democratic Primary Hard Fought

Dan iel P. Stringer upset veteran Lorain County Prosecutor Joseph R. Grunda by a two to one margin in the hot Lorain County primary. Stringer led in Elyria and North Ridgeville and carried Lorain, while Republican Gregory A. White ran unopposed. Stringer, a seven year county resident, advances to face White in November after an earlier bid for Ninth District Court of Appeals.

Fire destroys Lifehouse Pools warehouse in Strongsville

A Tuesday fire at Lifehouse Pools Inc. on Pearl Road caused about 300000 in damage to the warehouse. Two workers escaped unharmed as flames spread. firefighters used two lines to douse the blaze and special masks due to chemical fumes. Fire chiefs cited spontaneous combustion of pool chemicals as the likely cause with chlorine air posing risks. Assistance came from Middlebury Heights and North Royalton fire departments.

Armstrong faces Pease in 13th District race

In the Republican primary for the 13th Congressional District, David E. Armstrong defeated Amherst Mayor Anthony J. DePaola while incumbent Don J. Pease won the Democratic nomination easily. Vander Wyden fell short in Amherst, Oberlin backed Pease strongly, and Armstrong led Medina and Summit counties in unofficial results as Medina and Summit counties showed heavy Republican support.
