Brown orders ballots held in Ohio primary contest
Secret ary of State Clarence J. Brown ordered impounding all ballots from the May 10 primary and recertification by county boards to allow a complete recheck of the contest between Col. Thomas J. Herbert and L. T. Palmer for one Republican at large seat. The move prompted speculation Brown might challenge the governorship result, though no irregularities were cited. Brown said the order speaks for itself and ballots could be destroyed at midnight June 9 once official figures are compiled.
