Bandits Routed by Shots at Barbecue Stand
A volley of shots routed two bandits who attempted a robbery at the Leavitt and Durkes barbecue on Barton and Cleveland roads around 12:30 a.m. The owner Leavitt complied as a robber leveled a revolver, but shots fired from the kitchen chased the men away. Durkee fired at the getaway car. Earlier, two men matching the same description robbed Otto Chapman nearby, leading deputies to suspect the same pair.

Police Receive Four Army Rifles for Emergency Use
The Spanish American War Veterans donated four 30 caliber army rifles to the police to improve readiness against modern gunmen. The guns are loaned for emergencies and the force also has sawed off shotguns.

Sixty nine crippled children from thirty two towns in northern Ohio visited the Gates Hospital for Crippled Children for the monthly clinic. Ages ranged from nine months to 24 years with seventeen first timers and 52 returning for continuing treatment or reevaluation. Examiners were Dr C H Heyman of Cleveland and Dr F A Lawrence of Elyria. attendees came from Lorain and 35 other counties.

Beating Death in a Nine Hour Tank Climb
