Brown wins key primary in Lorain district race
The 13th district secretary of state candidate Brown captured 30 683 votes to 15 039 for runner up Margaret Mathna. Brown carried Lorain County with 40 percent to Mathna 25 and won all seven counties. He credited grassroots campaigning and union support while Mueller, the Republican nominee, celebrated her upset win despite outspending opponent Jacobs. Both candidates tout tax and health care positions and term limit plans viewing a contrasting approach to national policy. Brown favors higher taxes on the rich to aid the poor and private sector health care with federal oversight. Mueller backs private health care with possible public-private partnership. Both anticipate a vigorous campaign.
