Weather and Sailing Weekend on Lake Erie Shortened by Storms
The Lake Erie event saw a three day low pressure system batter the coast with 50 knot northerly winds. Waves armor the outer wall and dock areas as 39 boats started the race after an initial 80 entry pool. Winners included Bill Ryals aboard Happiness 12 and Witchdoctor from Lakeside YC with MORC top honors led by Sandusky Sailing Club’s Jim Winke. The weekend also included a memorial commodore dinner, aborted Star series, and plans for youth sailing camps at Vermilion Yacht Club with open house and junior orientation prior to the season.
