Northeast floods swamp towns as storms lash region
Floodwaters rose across the Northeast displacing thousands as rivers swelled and rains lingered. The Connecticut River was to crest near Hartford. Massachusetts Rhode Island and Maine warned of more flooding. A separate storm hit Utah and parts of Kansas and Nebraska with tornadoes and hail while 18 deaths were reported nationwide.
