White House pool finished at the west wing
Washington June 1 The new White House swimming pool is finished and President Roose velt plans his first workout in a day or two. The 50 foot pool cost about 15000 and was funded by several newspapers. It lies in the west wing linking the White House to the executive offices. Two murderers flee from Oral Prison in Oklahoma
Oklahoma state penitentiary guards chased two convicted murderers Jim Stribling and H. D. Brad after they overpowered a guard at the women’s building to seize a pistol and flee in a car. Backfire blamed for car fire at Princeton address
A small vehicle fire at 247 Princeton avenue was extinguished by neighbors using a tea kettle of water after backfire through the carburetor damaged wiring near the steering wheel. The owner R Sieg fried of 315 Princeton avenue reported slight damage and no loss of the car.

Kolopus Seeks Council Place in August Primaries
John J. Kolopos of 179 Bath Street announced his candidacy for Councilman at large, pending Republican primaries. He runs a gas station and insurance business, was born in Hungary, earned citizenship in 1894 in Cleveland, attended Elyria public schools and Elyria High School class of 1915 where he captained the football team. He served in Co B Elyria National Guard and spent about two and a half years on the Mexican border in World War I, and remains active in the American Legion Forty and Fight and the Eagles Club.

Former Elyria Teacher Paul Schefft Dies
Word was received that Paul Schefft, a teacher at Zion Lutheran School in Cleveland, passed away suddenly yesterday noon. He taught at St. John's Lutheran school from 1896 to 1899 and spoke at the church’s 80th anniversary on May 21. Funeral services are planned Saturday afternoon at Zion Lutheran Church, corner Prospect and East 30th.
