Oldest Amherst Resident Dies Born In 1844
Alexander Fleming Tait, 95, Amherst’s oldest resident, died at the home of Mr and Mrs Stanley Hull on Lincoln street. Born June 20 1844, he came to the United States fifty years ago and lived in Amherst five years with the Hulls and their daughter. Surviving are one daughter and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. The body will be shipped to Jasper Minnesota for services at the Presbyterian church Wednesday afternoon and burial there. Joan McMahon and Stanley Hull will accompany the body.
