New Hog Disease Threatens Herds In State and County
Federal and state officials met at the State Fairgrounds to map plans against a new hog disease. Agriculture Director Howard S. Foust announced a special meeting of government officials swine breeders and packers after a hog quarantine was placed on Franklin county. A herd of 103 hogs shipped from Syracuse New York had exposure to vesicular exanthema a disease with hoof and mouth like symptoms.
