Food Price Rise Seen Over Three Years

Washington July 29 The Agriculture Department reports that the typical American paid 67 more last year to feed a family of 68 common foods than in 1923. The study shows a three year rise in food costs with workers spending 331 in 1935 versus 264 in 1933. It notes farmers receive less than half of the consumer price and AAA taxes added 11 last year, now repealed as unconstitutional. The drought is blamed for expected higher beef dairy and vegetable prices later in the year.
