Ohio self defense law challenged by public defender
The chief counsel of Ohio's public defender office asks the U S Supreme Court to rule the self defense burden unconstitutional arguing the state must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the act was unlawful. The case Earlise Martin v Ohio is set for fall argument and involves a woman convicted of aggravated murder claiming self defense. Separately Joseph Colburn Jr seeks a new trial claiming the law flaws, with Meeks urging a "true man" instruction.
