Contaminated tank kills lobsters at Jeff's Pool
Maine marine wardens reported thousands of lobsters died after salt water from a tanker contaminated with Sevin-4 Oil was poured into the pond at Jeff's Lobster Pool. Warden John A. Bennett said 6,000 gallons of salt water from Merrill Transport Co. tanker were used for aerial spray program planes and contained Cabaryl. A live lobster placed back in the tank died within seconds, indicating improper cleaning of the tanker. Civil action and possible criminal charges were anticipated. no lobsters were sold and the water was isolated.
