Washington July 37 2 President Hoover’s bold move to place Democrats in control of the 3 5 billion Reconstruction Finance Corporation was welcomed by Republicans as a sharp political maneuver intended to shift power away from the R F C and influence fiscal policy.

In Greenville a July romance led to violence and three deaths. Samuel Gray, 64, died from pistol wounds after a June court divorce dispute. he shot his wife Hattie Ann Gray 40 and her sister Mrs. Addie Coe before fatally shooting himself. Neighbor Bor dine Coe, age 8, witnessed the scene as officers arrived.
Ambassador Andrew W. Mellon arrived at the State Department in Washington for conferences with Secretary Stimson. The talks are expected to cover the European outlook on war debts and other international issues.
Berlin July 27 United Press exclusive interview with Chancellor Franz Von Papen. He says the quickest road to world recovery is Germany regaining its place as a moral political and economic equal among nations. He demands removal of Versailles treaty discriminations and tariff barriers while urging arms reduction by Europe. He notes uncertain Reichstag outcome and potential roles for Hitlerites Hugenbergs Nationalists and Catholics, and calls for security oriented rearmament rather than parity with France.
About 400 residents gathered to storm the Lorain city jail to free Leon Callow of Cleveland, arrested after leading complaints at municipal court over food distribution. Police, including reserves, dispersed the mob with blackjacks as Maurice Stamm of Lorain led the demonstrators. Stamm and another man were held for investigation. no charges filed. The special council meeting adjourned amid the turmoil.
William Woodhouse of Columbus, Socialist Labor candidate for Governor, will discuss the low mood in an address at Ely Park on Saturday evening. He is to appear at 7 45, with the meeting held in front of the courthouse.

Washington July 27 Police officials said there were no orders to clear the 1800 bonus army veterans from government billets near the Capitol. Superintendent Pelham D. Glassford allowed the men to stay. Wrecking contractors, due to begin once evacuated, abandoned plans to start immediately as no directive to remove was issued.
Dog Warden Lee Minkler says the sheep killing spree in Rochester ended after two dogs were hunted down and killed yesterday following ten sheep killed on Monday. One suspected dog was found tied in a barn. salt poured down its throat caused the dog to disgorge bones and Fool.

Kiel, Germany July 27. Warships and aircraft searched for nine German naval cadets and crew missing after the four master Baroque Niobe sank in the Baltic within four minutes during a sudden squall. Lightship keepers witnessed the disaster as the rigging failed and the ship capsized with all hands aboard. Survivors were brought to the nearby freighter Terese and to the rescue ship No. 4.
