Tragic Back Bay fire claims Diana Bryant and others
In Boston Back Bay a five story apartment blaze yesterday left 19 year old Diana Bryant dead and her 2 year old goddaughter Tiamie Jones injured, fireman Robert ONeill narrowly escaped as the fire escape failed. Bryant died in the fall while the child survived in fair condition and ONeill clung to the ladder to safety. Meanwhile an unrelated indictment has Anthony J Marsho charged with theft in office for $320,431.22 missing from Marsico's Auto License Bureau in 1974, with two misdemeanors and further probe planned. Marsho bonded at $50,000 and due in Lorain County Common Pleas Court next Monday. The case raises questions about missing funds and possible other charges.

Houston AP Thomas P Stafford, commanding the last US manned space mission for years, regrets the era ending but foresees a space shuttle era. He spoke at a news conference aboard the orbiting Apollo as Slayton and Brand joined, answering questions via radio from space. He said the shuttle will expand space work, be costly in the near term, and bring great, Earth benefiting achievements. The trio, linked to Soyuz, prepared for return as Leonov and Kubasov finished their mission.
