Biggest known structure in the universe identified
New Mexico astronomers Dr. Jack Burns and David Batuski report a vast filament of galaxies over a billion light years long. The find suggests galaxies formed from giant gas clouds and hints at dark matter components, with future work needed to refine cosmic structure. The team used optical spectra and data from the Kitt Peak telescope in Arizona.
