Vermilion youth killed in straw wagon accident
Joel M. Gigliotti, 18, of 1935 Sunnyside Rd., a Firelands High School graduate and local athlete, died after apparently falling from a straw wagon pulled by a tractor at Miller Orchards on Vermilion Road. Dwight Miller reported stopping after noticing Gigliotti missing, with coroner citing massive chest injuries. Investigators continued work as Gigliotti’s supervisors praised his character and leadership.

Lorain attorney Robert J. Bacisin turned himself in after a sealed grand jury indictment charging three counts of forgery. The checks totaling about 3000 were forged with the service manager’s name for Gumpp Motors and Bacisin, his wife, and Gumpp Motors were named on one check. He pleaded innocent at arraignment and pre trial date is set for August 2. he is free on bond and represented by Jack Bradley.
