Former podcaster Matthew Motil known as The Cash Flow King received a 5 years and 10 months prison term for securities and wire fraud tied to a real estate Ponzi scheme that defrauded at least 63 victims nationwide of more than 7.3 million dollars. He must also pay about 5.1 million in restitution and face three years of supervised release. Motil used his podcast marketing and a book to lure investors and pledged notes secured by mortgages on properties around Northeast Ohio, repeatedly using the same properties to extract funds from new investors. He financed a lavish lifestyle, including a Lake Erie home and Cavaliers game seats, with investor money. The case involved the Secret Service Money Laundering Task Force and multiple local and county law enforcement agencies.
