Despondent WWI veteran dies by self harm in Lorain
A 67 year old World War I veteran from Detroit, despondent for years, hanged himself with a clothesline from the rafters of his brother in law's garage in Lorain last night. George M. Baltzer, pronounced dead at 12:50 p m today at St. Joseph Hospital, was visiting Quail for five weeks. He is survived by his wife Madelyn and daughter Georgialee, with three sisters in Ohio and Pennsylvania. The coroner ruled death by own action.

LeRoy Mankin of Columbia Station pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated in Elyria Municipal Court. He received a $250 fine and costs, seven days in county jail, and a six month license suspension. Mankin was arrested last night by a Columbia Station constable per reports.
