Adams Case Heads To New Hearings On Pressure Claim

Washington UPI report says House investigators plan closed hearings Monday on whether White House Aide Sherman Adams pressured for a 41284 Army contract refund for a New Hampshire firm. A former Pentagon official who questioned Adams was subpoenaed along with about six others. In a related matter a hotel cashier was arrested in the Galdi ne papers inquiry, charged with breaking and entering at the Sheraton Carrier Hotel.

Vast Russian forces mass near Turkish Iranian borders

West German intelligence reports Russia has massed about 24 army divisions along the Turkish and Iranian borders near the Middle East, with many armored and mechanized units and T-54 tanks. The Trans-Caucasus Army, led by Marshal Grechko, totals 19 divisions, while five more under Marshal Merkezhov guard the Iranian side. Airborne units, numbering 10 to 12 divisions, are not counted in these totals.

Wellington Eyes 6000 KVA Plant To Boost Local Power

Gl's Held By Reds Released

Nine U S Army soldiers, eight officers and one enlisted man, captured near Karl Marn-Stadt inside the Soviet zone after landing in East Germany during a thunderstorm, were released to U S officials in Hof Bavaria at 9 AM. They belonged to the Third Armored Division based in Frankfurt. The group included Capt Paul Fetone of Cleveland Ohio, the sole Ohioan, and were handed over by Communist authorities after six weeks in captivity.
