Community notes detail the So We Sew 4-H club in Grafton making rug rags for a fall bazaar, Belden Grange cookie and sewing contests, and social visits across Elyria LaGrange and nearby towns. Reports show gatherings, travel, and farm bureau activities plus a birthday gift at a club meeting.
"Playground Night" for parents and children is set for Friday at 7 30 p m on the Grafton school grounds. Handcraft by children will be shown, a baseball game and games for youngsters, a pet show and refreshments conclude the evening. This marks the official closing of the playground for the summer.
Grafton Bak er s Dozen Pinochle club met at Mrs Louise Lawson s home for cards. Irma Van Nostran won high, Jeanne Rothgery was second, Wilhelmine Metzger placed low. Ivah Kinter received the travelling prize and an anniversary gift from her secret sister. A salad course followed. Helen Hershey will host the next meeting. Belden MLY.F. elects Carol Schriver as president Annie Marty as vice president Claudia Jackson as secretary and publicity chair and Lee Sooy as treasurer at the first meeting of the year held Friday night at the church with Rev Gordon Gale in charge. Meetings for the summer begin at 6 PM, with eleven members and two visitors Jimmy and Billy Somsak attending. Also reports Clement Weisz and his wife returning home Friday July 7 after touring national parks.
GRAFTON The first official board meeting of the conference year at Grafton Methodist Church opened by Rev. Fred Stroebel. Dr L Owens of Oberlin gave an address on Pastoral Relations. The project to paint the parsonage was approved with local churchmen to do the work. Cabinets for Sunday school rooms near completion. Bruce Cox reelected chairman with Forest Hornbeck vice chairman and Leona Wise secretary. New trustees named Lloyd Bartlett George Edwards and Winifred Tran.
