Heat wave bakes region with highs near 100 across Lorain County
On Tuesday the region sweltered with readings near 100. At Stewart's Appliances in Elyria a 103 was logged while official Cleveland Hopkins and Lorain County airports reached 96, two degrees shy of 98 records. Meteorologist Kristen Yeager notes blacktop heat skews local readings. Toledo also hit 100, breaking its 1931 mark. Rainfall remains low compared with 1988 drought, though totals since July 1 run higher than that year.
