Hyatt Regency Disaster Traps Dozens Amid Collapse
At Kansas City Hyatt Regency a skywalk collapse trapped numerous revelers and hotel guests as two skywalks fell into the lobby during a Tea Dance. Firefighters faced equipment limits and deadly heat while nine survivors were freed and rushed to area hospitals. Emergency personnel described severed limbs and pools of blood as hospital ERs prepared for casualties. Red Cross workers aided responders and hotel guests were relocated to nearby accommodations.
